Great Gardens of Cornwall

With the influence of the gulf stream Cornwall enjoys a mild climate year round creating growing conditions unlike those elsewhere in Britain. There are some truly great gardens to visit throughout the county of Cornwall, which is home to a wealth of the most exciting rare and beautiful plants and trees in the British Isles.

The Eden Project

Cornwall’s wonderful global garden has been hailed as ‘The 8th wonder of the World’. A truly memorable experience in an epic location, the Eden Project is both an educational resource and an environmental showcase with giant geodesic conservatories and a panorama of shrubs and plants demonstrating in a vibrant manner how plants and people depend on each other for mutual survival on our planet.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan

‘The Lost Gardens of Heligan are the garden restoration of the century’ (The Times). Cornwall’s award-winning gardens extend to some 80 acres of superb pleasure grounds together with a magnificent complex of walled gardens.

Trebah Gardens

The dramatically beautiful 28-acre Trebah Gardens are listed among the 80 finest in the world. Glades of huge 100-year-old tree-ferns mingle with a forest of rhododendrons, magnolias and camellias under a canopy of ancient oaks and beeches. There are cascading streams, fish filled ponds and a private beach overlooking Cornwall’s Helford River.

Pinetum Park & Pine Lodge Gardens

With a collection of over 6,000 plants and many truly magnificent trees, Pinetum Park & Pine Lodge Gardens are set in over 30 acres on the warm sheltered coast of St Austell Bay. A delightful walk takes you through many different gardens from woodland to Japanese.

Trewithen

‘An elegant Georgian mansion built in the 1720s for comfort rather than show and little altered over the centuries. The exotic subtropical garden, created in the Twenties, is one of the loveliest and best-maintained in Cornwall and open all summer.’ (Telegraph) A private, historic estate that has one of the loveliest gardens in England. Trewithen has a magnificent collection of magnolias, camellias and rhododendrons, a wonderful woodland walk and a beautiful heritage family home. Trewithen is truly a rare and unique gem of Cornwall.
