Health & Safety

We take the utmost care to adhere to all health and safety regulations and to ensure the highest possible standards are maintained at all times. However, should you notice anything that represents a health or safety hazard, please notify the Management at once so that any necessary action can be taken with the minimum of delay.

Please note that children under 16 years must not be left on their own in the property.

Fire Precautions & Emergencies

Your property has a fire/smoke alarm system, fire extinguisher, fire blanket and carbon monoxide alarm. Please carefully read the instructions displayed in your cottage. As a fire precaution, all internal doors should be shut prior to going to bed.

Please note the fire alarm in the pool complex is tested weekly.

If there is a fire in your cottage:

• Do not attempt to tackle the fire yourself.
• Keep calm and do not stop to collect belongings.
• Leave the property by the safest and nearest exit.
• Go to the fire assembly point in the lower car park.
• Notify reception or, if unattended, call 999.
• Do not re-enter the property until told it is safe by the Duty Manager or Fire Officer.

Woodburner

The woodburner operates very efficiently and requires very little attention. Please note the following points for your safety and comfort:

• Firelighters and kindling wood are required for the woodburner to operate effectively.
• The vents should be fully open when lighting the fire.
• Ensure the door is always closed when the fire is alight.
• Do not put any plastic or combustible items in the fire.
• Do not rest anything against the wood burner.
• There should be no need to empty the wood burner during your stay. However, if it is full at any stage please advise reception and we will empty it. Please do not empty it yourself.
• Alongside the hearth is a laminated instruction leaflet for those not familiar with laying a fire.

Woodburner Logs

An initial supply of kindling and logs is available from Reception, subject to limited opening hours. Further supplies can be purchased from the local petrol station, about a mile away. Turn right from the entrance, follow the road down and turn left onto the main road.

Smoking, Vaping & Drugs

Smoking & Vaping

Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited in any area of your cottage. There are two designated smoking areas with fire-safe cigarette bins, one outside reception and another in the bike shelter. For the consideration of fellow guests and non-smoking neighbours, please use these designated areas whenever smoking or vaping.

A penalty charge will apply to the lead bookerif anyone in the party fails to comply, as this is a legal requirement.

All areas of the property are strictly non-smoking.

Swimming Pool at Green Acres Cottages

We ask that you and members of your party carefully read the following important notes so you can safely enjoy this facility. This advice is especially important in respect of children and swimmers who are not fully competent. Full compliance with these safety instructions is a condition of use.

• Pool depth is 1.25 metres throughout.
• There is no lifeguard on duty.
• Children under 16 years must always be accompanied by an adult.
• The pool door is accessed by a security code detailed on the laminated sheet in your cottage.
• Competent adult swimmers must supervise children under 16 years and non-swimmers at all times.
• It is prohibited to use the pool on your own. A responsible person aged 16 years or over must be in the pool room if there is a lone swimmer.
• Do not use the pool outside the stated opening hours or when closed.
• Take care when swimming close to the steps.
• Diving, jumping and inflatable toys are strictly prohibited.
• No eating or drinking in the pool complex.
• Avoid swimming after meals or alcohol consumption.
• Do not use the pool if overcrowded.
• Management may remove anyone not complying with the rules.
• Ensure the pool door closes behind you.
• Use the pool alarm in an emergency.
• Dispose of swimming nappies in the hygiene bin.
• No music or portable speakers.

The pool may be subject to closure or restricted use for safety or operational reasons.
