Remote Beaches

We’re continuing our quest for some more beautiful remote beaches in Cornwall. Today we’d like to introduce you to Gwynver Beach, also known as Gwenver. It’s 9 miles from Penzance heading in the direction of Lands End.

You’d be forgiven in thinking that you were in the Mediterranean, not Cornwall, with its white sands and azure blue waters, Gwynver is nothing short of absolutely stunning. Just take a look for yourself at the colour of that water! On a clear day the Scilly Isles can be easily made out from the beach, as can the nearby Brisons rocks, also known as ‘General de Gaulle in his bath’ are 1 mile off the coast of Cape Cornwall.

Gwynver Beach is located just north of Sennen Cove. The best place to park is the small car park at the top of the cliffs. Be warned, however, as it’s a steep, long walk down to the beach. At low tide the sand stretches south to Sennen Cove.

Carrying a surfboard could possibly be a challenge, but as it is a good surfing beach, it could well be worth the struggle?

Key Facts:
Park at TR19 7BB
Dogs are permitted on the beach year round
There are no facilities on the beach
Access is only via a steep path (10 to 15 minute walk from the car park)
Best time to visit is at low tide
Lifeguard information can be found here

This beach is rated 4.9 out of 5 on Trip Advsior and it’s really easy to see why.
