Property hot spots in Cornwall

Padstow and Fowey are the pick of the postcodes

The Royals like to holiday in nearby Rock and a gala of celebrities have been spotted on Cornwall’s coasts this summer, but Padstow and Fowey have been revealed as Cornwall’s pick of the postcodes according to a new study by Zoopla into up and coming property millionaires. Could this be part of the ‘Padstein effect?’ with celebrity chef Rick Stein making Padstow a name not to be missed on the gourmet food front and Fowey attracting TV celebrity James Strawbridge with his Posh Pasty Company?

So, just what makes them the property hot spots in Cornwall? Undoubtedly both areas are picturesque Cornish coastal locations with quaint little streets winding down to bustling harbours. We love them as Bay Retreat Villas is situated just 3 miles from Padstow and Green Acres Cottages only 5 miles from Fowey, making them handy places for anyone taking a holiday or break. The lovely mix of artisan shops, eateries and tradition gives both towns great atmospheres whilst also providing plenty to do and see. What’s more, a whole host of celebrities seem to agree. Dawn French, Janet Ellis, Gloria Hunniford, Richard Madely and Judy Finnigan all have homes in Fowey whereas Rick and Jill Stein and Nathan Outlaw are Padstow’s famous residents.

We think Watergate Bay would also be on the list if it had a few more houses! The beautiful bay is not only renowned for its surf but also home to Jamie Oliver’s ‘Fifteen’ restaurant, situated just 150 yards from the beach. The north coast cliff path between Padstow and Watergate Bay makes for an exhilarating walk with some spectacular scenery but we’d also thoroughly recommend carrying on a little further to the pretty coved beach at Porth and stopping by BEST WESTERN Porth Veor Manor Hotel for a cream tea!

Whatever the weather or budget, we agree Padstow and Fowey are well worth a visit to while away some time and escape.
